Development of Caesarean Section Clinical Pathway: A Lesson Learned

Although clinical pathway (CP) is aimed to ensure quality and cost, the development of CP at hospitals primarily for administrative purposes as it required by accreditation standards, thus causing high variations in its implementation. This study develop a caesarean section explore problem during implementation test. The selection was based on volume, risk, cost. Using participatory action research, researcher started program performing an evaluation, literature review, regulatory development. evaluation identified discrepancies prolonged length stay. Based review results, Professional Care Provider (PCP) hospital conducted discussions made suggestions considering available resources, current practices, behavior. main differences new are: 1) developed practice, 2) should be added with notification, explanation, inclusion exclusion criteria, references. Before test, provide develops standard operational procedure followed monitoring evaluation. Differences type medication documentation method were found, which then further discussed all involved PCP define agreed solutions. engagement openness culture that embraces along process are key lesson learned addition understanding continuous learning process.
